Iron ore strong magnetic separation beneficiation process

Iron ore strong magnetic separation beneficiation process

There are many types of iron minerals, but only a dozen or so are used as raw materials for ironmaking, mainly including magnetite, hematite, limonite, specularite, siderite, etc; Common beneficiation methods include magnetic separation, gravity separation, and combined beneficiation.

Magnetic separation is one of the main methods for separating iron ore, divided into strong magnetic separation and weak magnetic separation. Weak magnetic separation is mainly used for separating strong magnetic minerals such as magnetite, while strong magnetic separation is mainly used for recovering weak magnetic minerals such as hematite and limonite.

Iron ore strong magnetic separation beneficiation process flow

1.Raw ore preparation:

  • The raw iron ore undergoes coarse and fine crushing to a certain particle size for subsequent processing.
  • The ore is dried to remove moisture and improve beneficiation efficiency.

2.Strong magnetic separation:

  • Strong magnetic separation is a method of selecting weakly magnetic minerals using a strong magnetic field. During the strong magnetic separation process, the ore is sent into the strong magnetic separation equipment, which uses a strong magnetic field to separate weakly magnetic minerals from non-magnetic minerals.
  • Common strong magnetic separation equipment includes strong magnetic separators, strong magnetic drums, etc. These devices generate high magnetic field strength and are suitable for recovering weakly magnetic minerals such as hematite and limonite.

3.Strong magnetic tail throwing:

  • Strong magnetic tailings disposal is a further treatment of tailings based on strong magnetic separation to improve iron recovery rate.\
  • During the strong magnetic tailings throwing process, weak magnetic minerals in the tailings are further separated, thereby improving the iron recovery rate.

4.Concentrate Collection:

  • After strong magnetic separation and strong magnetic tailings, the weak magnetic minerals obtained are collected to form iron ore concentrate.
  • The collected concentrate is dehydrated and dried to obtain high-grade iron ore concentrate containing a certain amount of moisture.

5.Tailings treatment :

  • Tailings are non-magnetic minerals and gangue minerals that are discarded during the strong magnetic separation process. The treatment of tailings usually includes steps such as concentration and drying to reduce its impact on the environment.

Technological advantages

  • Efficient Separation:The strong magnetic separation process can effectively separate weak magnetic minerals and non-magnetic minerals in iron ore, improving the recovery rate of iron ore.
  • Improving concentrate quality:By using strong magnetic separation and strong magnetic tailings disposal, the quality of iron ore concentrate can be improved.
  • Cost saving:Compared to other physical separation and chemical treatment methods, the strong magnetic separation process has the characteristic of being environmentally friendly. During the magnetic separation process, there is no need to add chemicals, reducing environmental pollution and resource waste.
  • Flexibility in operation:The process operation is flexible, and the conditions for strong magnetic separation and strong magnetic tailings can be adjusted according to the properties and needs of the ore to achieve the best ore dressing effect.
  • The strong magnetic separation and beneficiation process for iron ore uses a strong magnetic field to separate weakly magnetic minerals such as hematite and limonite. It has the advantages of efficient separation, improved concentrate quality, cost savings, and operational flexibility, providing effective technical support for the processing and utilization of iron ore.
