Iron ore reverse flotation process

Iron ore reverse flotation process

The reverse flotation process of iron ore is a beneficiation method used to improve the grade and recovery rate of iron ore, especially for iron ore with complex composition and high iron content. The reverse flotation process can effectively separate gangue minerals from iron minerals.

Iron ore reverse flotation process flow

1.Anionic collector reverse flotation method:

  • Medication addition:In this method, anionic collectors such as fatty acid salts, sulfates, etc. are usually added to the slurry, as well as adjusters such as lime milk (Ca (OH) 2) to adjust the pH value of the slurry.
  • Flotation process:pulp is injected and stirred in the flotation machine, and air is introduced to generate foam. Due to the selectivity of reagents, iron minerals will attach to the foam and float to the pulp surface, while gangue minerals will remain in the pul
  • Concentrate collection:flotation foam is collected and pressed to obtain high-grade iron concentrate.
  • Tailings Treatment:Tailings are gangue minerals and iron minerals that are discarded during the reverse flotation process. The treatment of tailings usually includes steps such as concentration and drying to reduce its impact on the environment.

2.Cationic collector reverse flotation method:

  • Medication addition:In this method, cationic collectors such as ether amines, fatty amines, etc. are added to the slurry, as well as adjusting agents such as sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) to adjust the pH value of the slurry.
  • Flotation process:pulp is injected and stirred in the flotation machine, and air is introduced to generate foam. Gangue minerals attach to the foam and float to the pulp surface under the action of cationic collectors, while iron minerals remain in the pulp.
  • Concentrate collection:flotation foam is collected and pressed to obtain high-grade iron concentrate.
  • Tailings treatment:The processing steps of tailings are similar to the anionic collector reverse flotation method.

Technological advantages

  • Efficient Separation:The reverse flotation process can effectively separate gangue minerals and valuable iron minerals in iron ore, improving the recovery rate of iron ore.
  • Improving concentrate quality:Through reverse flotation, gangue minerals can be removed and the quality of iron ore concentrate can be improved.
  • Flexibility:The process operation is flexible, and the type and dosage of flotation agents can be adjusted according to the properties and needs of the ore to achieve the best flotation effect.
  • Environmentally friendly:The flotation process does not require the addition of a large amount of chemical agents, reducing environmental pollution and resource waste.
  • The reverse flotation process of iron ore separates gangue minerals from valuable iron minerals by utilizing the selective adsorption of flotation agents. It has the advantages of efficient separation, improved concentrate quality, flexibility, and environmental friendliness, providing effective technical support for the processing and utilization of iron ore.

Typical beneficiation plant

Hainan Hematite Mineral Processing Plant: The raw ore contains about 40% iron, mainly hematite followed by magnetite, with quartz as the main gangue mineral and sulfur as the harmful impurity.
